After the Fall, Part Three is the third issue of the After the Fall comic book series. Written by Brian Lynch with Joss Whedon and illustrated by Franco Urru, it was originally published on January 16, 2008, by IDW Publishing.

Synopsis[]

Joss Whedon, Brian Lynch and Franco Urru continue their post-Season Five epic tale.

As it turned out, Angel didn't end up slaying the dragon after all. But maybe Illyria will! After a brutal Illyria/Angel throwdown, it's goddess versus giant, fire-breathing reptile, and a huge reveal that no one will see coming.[1]

Summary[]

Illyria throws Angel through a wall and gravely wounds him. He discovers that the Hell dimension has been playing havoc with Illyria's powers, and she is once again time-skipping. Spike instructs that she calms down, but her attentions are focused elsewhere when Angel's dragon makes a sudden appearance. Illyria fights the creature until Spike instructs her to stop.

Connor shows up then, and tells his father that he and Spike have been working together. Spike has begun patrolling the city for survivors as well, and even began allowing them to stay with him at his new residence when the other shelters became too crowded; Spike's "Hugh Hefner" lifestyle has only been part of an act.

Angel then confronts the Lords of Los Angeles, and he challenges them to a battle for the city in two days. However, Angel doesn't have a vampire's healing faculties because he his no longer a vampire.

Continuity[]

  • Angel reflects on when the Mutari generator diminished Illyria's powers in "Time Bomb."
  • Angel compares Spike's lifestyle with Hugh Hefner's; in Spike: After the Fall, Part Four, it's revealed that Spike's mansion used to be Hugh Hefner's.
  • The Demon Lords comment on the Lord of Silver Lake declining to join their gatherings; the next issue will reveal Lorne as this Lord.
