After the Fall, Part Twelve is the twelfth issue of the After the Fall comic book series. It was written by Brian Lynch with Joss Whedon and illustrated by Stephen Mooney and Nick Runge. It was originally published on September 4, 2008, by IDW Publishing.

Synopsis[]

Last issue, Angel and Gunn were reunited. Unsurprisingly, it didn't go very well, and it's about to get worse. Gunn's master plan has comes to light, and it not only does it have horrifying repercussions for Angel and his friends, it could spell disaster for all of Los Angeles.[1]

Summary[]

Connor and Spike confront Gwen on her betrayal. Wesley is taken from headquarters to the scene of Angel's impending death. It spurs Illyria's transformation back from Fred's form as she approaches the scene of a battle between Gwen and the dragon, whose name is revealed as Cordelia.

On another plane, Angel is reunited with an apparition of Cordelia Chase, meant to ease his transition. Wesley arrives and confronts Gunn with information from the Senior Partners: the visions are theirs, and all they have wrought is part of a larger plan for Angel. He reveals Angel (and Angel alone) is still entitled to the future in the Shanshu Prophecy, and he delivers Angel a glimpse of it.

Angel sees an image of himself as a vampire surrounded by dozens of dead bodies in the aftermath of an apocalyptic battle. This vision, however, leads Angel to resign himself to death.
