Buffy the Vampire Slayer Classic was a comic book series published by Dark Horse Comics from 1998 to 2003 as part of their original Dark Horse Classic run of comics (1997–2004) based on the Buffy and Angel television series. It is also in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer meta-series.


Aside from the adventures Buffy and her friends had on the TV series, they battled many other vampires, demons, and forces of darkness in this comic book series.


The series covered various events in a period from summer 1996 to early 2002.



The series included 63 issues, which were later collected in 18 trade paperbacks and 7 omnibus.

"Hellmouth to Mouth" concludes as Buffy finally rescues Xander and Dawn from the crew that's nearly destroyed Sunnydale—The Scourge! They soon find that the only thing worse than the Scourge is their secret leader, revealed this issue! Behind the Scenes

The series was originally titled Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but upon its digital re-release Dark Horse Comics chose to rename the series. (Presumably to set it apart from Season Eight, Season Nine, Season Ten and the TV series).
