- “This symbol, these two planks of wood. It confounds me. Suffuses me with mortal dread.”
- ―The Master[src]
A cross was an artifact belonging to the Christian religion.
Crosses were one of a vampire's several weaknesses, and possessed two non-fatal effects to them. The very sight of a crucifix was capable of instilling fear in a vampire, and coming in physical contact with it could cause a vampire painful burns. Even though crosses were ineffective to the Turok-han, they also worked on Ethros demons.
Exactly how or why vampires were turned away by the cross was never explained. Conversely, many vampires considered the crucifixion to be a glorious day for their kind, and many even went on to bolster their status or power by claiming to have personally witnessed the crucifixion.
