Barbary Coast, Part Two is the second issue of the Barbary Coast comic book miniseries. Written by David Tischman and illustrated by Franco Urru, it was originally published on May 5, 2010, by IDW Publishing.

Synopsis[]

The New World is turning out to be more than Angel bargained for as he's confronted with a monstrous, mythical beast, and continues to try and find a "cure" for his painful new soul. But when the earth begins to shake, Angel finds himself facing the cause of one histories great "natural" disasters.[1]

Summary[]

As Angel lies on the floor of The Olympia, one of the cops kicks him in the stomach. Angel gets up and knocked the man out. He threatens Hawkins, who reveals he knows Angel is a vampire and says Ling Kai left through the kitchen. Angel follows her trail and finds her at the docks. She resists, and Angel knocks her out.

Meanwhile, the drunkard, Abraham Behr, is released from jail. In the cell, Lynch claims the end is near. Outside, Behr was met by Bart, who appears to answer to Behr. They have had information on Angel, who Bart has to kill.

Angel brings Ling Kai to Xin. While discussing the terms of their deal, Jimmy Watson breaks them up with a gun and says the deal is off. Ling Kai quickly runs to her boyfriend. Xin and Ling exchange insults in Chinese. She transforms into a dragon and destroys the building in the process. She brings fiery death to Jimmy, smashes what is left of the building, and takes off.

Angel tells Xin he is leaving, but Xin says he has not completed the task. Angel argues he brought the girl back but he will not deal with any dragons. Xin explains her soul will be lost if they do not help the girl, and, by helping Ling Xai, Angel is also helping himself. He gives Angel a sword, a satchel, and a potion that will tame the dragon.

In the city, Hawkins walks home when the dragon approaches. Ling continues walking past him until he blows a whistle and scares her. Ling takes off, demolishing a few buildings. Angel arrives and tells Hawkins to get the fire department so they can help control the fire he knows is coming.

Angel pulls out the potion Xin gave him, but Bart shoots the container, breaking it. The two begin fighting, and Bart urges Angel not to help the girl or to save the city: not to choose the path of good. The fight is interrupted by an earthquake.
