"It doesn't kill you. What it does is make you feel like you're in a noisy little dark room... Naked and ashamed... And there are things in the dark that need to hurt you because you're bad... Little pinching things that go in your ears and crawl on the inside of your skull. And you know that if the noise and the crawling would stop... that you could remember how to get out... But you never will."
―Glorificus describing to Tara what it feels like to be brain sucked.[src]

"Groupies", also referred as "Crazies", was the term Glorificus employed to refer to the population of Sunnydale mentally-ill humans, most of them victims' of the Beast's "brain-sucking" feedings.

Glory brain-sucking Orlando

Glory needed their mystical brain functions so she could retain her sanity, so every few periods of time she would begin freaking out until she got her hands on a human which she would insert her fingers into the sides of their head and in just a few seconds she would release her victim when finished. The term used for this event is called a "brain-suck". The victim would be left delusional and unconnected to reality. Even though Willow Rosenberg was able to feed and look after her girlfriend Tara (a victim of one of Glory's brain-sucks), she was advised to restrain her during the night as Tara was prone to slight violent outbursts like when she slapped Willow on the face, exclaiming "Bitch, I'm supposed to work on the factors!" Willow eventually found a cure to Glory's brain sucking, by inserting her fingers into both Glory's and Tara's head she was able to transfer some of Glory's brain energy back into Tara, returning her to full sanity as well as weakening Glory.

Glory's victims being assembled by her minions

Since Glory's arrival to Sunnydale, the 'Groupies' began increasing in numbers to alarming rates, forcing her human counterpart Ben Wilkinson to summon a Queller Demon to eliminate them, though the Queller was only able to 'quell' one of them before Buffy Summers killed it. Eventually after Glory obtained the Key, all of her 'Groupies' became attracted to the presence of her pre-ritual and every one of them gathered at the sight of her presence, where they began constructing the Tower where it would happen. The Scooby Gang, using the crazed Tara as guide, went to the site and entered into a fierce battle with the insane humans, who were forced to fight under the rule of Glory's Minions. What happened to them after Glory's defeat and Buffy's death is unknown, since Ben is dead, preventing Glory from rising again, which left Willow with no known possible way to restore all of them.

Powers and Abilities

"Only those outside reality can see the Key's true nature."
Dawn Summers[src]

Because of their "outside reality" status, these individuals were capable of seeing beyond the effects of reality manipulation rituals and spells, such as the one performed by the Order of Dagon to transform The Key into Dawn Summers. They were capable of perceiving Dawn's original nature, as well as sensing mystical events such as the "Big Day".
