The Ionization Spell is used to ionize the atmosphere and disrupt the flow of electricity in the area, destroying lightbulbs, obscuring signal transmissions, messing up hair and possibly other static effects. However, this spell wears off quickly.

Willow Rosenberg used this spell to disrupt the signal emitted by a tracing round that Spike was hit with by Initiative soldiers in order to give Giles enough time to remove said tracer.
