Joseph "Jeph" Loeb III is a multi-award-winning comic book and television writer. He is arguably most famous for his work on Batman comics, including the Eisner award-winning Batman: The Long Halloween (which featured art by frequent Jeph Loeb collaborator Tim Sale, who provides the comic art seen on Heroes), which has been cited as one of the major inspirations behind the acclaimed film The Dark Knight. Loeb was a producer/writer for such TV series as Smallville and Lost and a Co-Executive Producer for Heroes from its premiere in 2006 to November, 2008. Jeph is also the father of Sam Loeb.

Loeb was set to become one of the executive producers and writers on the ultimately unproduced Buffy the Animated Series.

Loeb also wrote the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Eight comic book "After These Messages ... We'll Be Right Back!", which was inspired by the unproduced animated series.
