Kaltenbach was a senile Sunnydale resident.
Biography
He was a toy designer in the 50s until he made a mistake (although he doesn’t elaborate on what the mistake was). He then became reclusive and subject to rumors — the archetype of the mysterious loner who’s assumed to be creepy, but actually had a heart of gold (which is similar to the character of Arthur “Boo” Radley in “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee).
During Halloween 2001, Dawn Summers was dared by Justin, Zack and Janice to smash one of his pumpkins. Kaltenbach caught her while she was at it, but to their surprise, he gave them a friendly greeting and invited the teenagers in his house for Halloween treats.
Inside his kitchen, Kaltenbach was killed and drained by Justin, a vampire.
