Karinna Willitts was the daughter of movie producer Jack Willitts.
While out clubbing with friends one night, Karinna was killed in a drive-by shooting. However, her father made a deal with the powerful sorceror Mordractus where Mordractus used a shape-shifting minion of his to pose as Karinna, while her real body was declared a Jane Doe and left in the LAPD morgue, allowing Mordractus to use the fake Karinna as bait to lure Angel into a trap (Karinna resembled a girl Angel had tried and failed to protect from a vampire immediately after regaining his soul, Mordractus guessing that the resemblance would leave Angel more focused on protecting Karinna than he should).
Due to the circumstances of her death- with everyone ignorant that she was gone and the fake Karinna living her life-, Karinna was unable to move on, trapped in a ghostly state where she was forced to watch the impostor live her life while being unable to do anything. This resulted in Angel's associate Doyle receiving a vision to alert Angel to help Karinna, although Angel naturally assumed that he was simply there to protect the fake Karinna due to his initial ignorance of Mordractus's presence.
Although Mordractus's trap worked, Angel was able to escape and deduce what had really happened, subsequently exorcising the fake Karinna. As he performed the ritual to exorcise her, Karinna's ghost appeared to him, explaining her circumstances to him and asking him to complete the ritual. With the fake Karinna banished, Karinna manifested a physical form long enough to hug Angel, thanking him for helping her before she passed on.
