Laura Egler was a Sunnydale High student. While trying to sneak a cigarette in a secluded part of the school, she was beaten to near-death by the Ugly Man. When Buffy Summers and Rupert Giles visited her in the hospital, Laura told them about her assailant, and that the only thing he said was "lucky nineteen".
