"Love Dares You, Part Two" was the twelfth issue of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Ten comic book series.

Synopsis

Buffy and her crew are on the cusp of some monumental relationship stuff, but entanglements are waylaid when they're forced to fight a new evil and the flesh homunculi he creates . . .

Continuity

  • Spike is revealed to be aware of Buffy's brief sexual encounter with Satsu, in 'Wolves at the Gate'.
  • Buffy recalls her time as a Doublemeat Palace employee.
  • When Buffy declares her love to Spike, she says "I know 'Just Friends' is supposed to be a bad thing", referencing Spike's love speech and his breakup with Drusilla in "Lovers Walk".
  • Buffy and Spike surrender to one another and have sex for the first time after "As You Were", and for the first time after he had his soul returned and changed for the good side. The two were last seen together as so in Buffy's imagination in 'Last Gleaming'.
  • Comically, when kissing with passion, Buffy and Spike reproduces the same movement by knocking the wall in the bedroom, reminiscent to their first night to the abandoned house in "Smashed". This scene was also similar to Buffy and a human Angel making love in "I Will Remember You".
  • Spike admits to himself he's "afraid of falling asleep 'cause she [Buffy] might not be here when you wake". Buffy herself often suffered of such situation in the past as seen in "Innocence" and "The Harsh Light of Day". Riley was the first to be on her side all the way, followed by Spike, though still an evil creature and having a troublesome relationship with Buffy.
  • When Buffy is sleeping, Spike says "Nothin' could ruin this", reminiscent to Buffy and Angel's dialog in bedroom in "I Will Remember You".
  • Spike's nightmare in which he feeds on a couple is reminiscent of Angel's nightmares in "Somnambulist". Both ensouled and working on the good side, they are haunted by visions of been turning back to their latent evil, sadistic and bloodthirsty selves.
