MacKenna, born Padraic MacKenna, was an Irish vampire lord living in Los Angeles, who planned to alter the Earth's orbit so one side never faced the sun again, thus creating a world where vampires reigned supreme.

According to one of his minions, MacKenna successfully organized Southern California's vampire population in a way no other vampire had succeeded in doing since the Master was slain by Buffy Summers, and he possessed connections not only in Los Angeles, but also Sunnydale.
