Monsignor Rivalli was a former Catholic Archbishop and the founder of the Inquisitore.
Biography
A traditionalist Catholic, Monsignor Rivalli had been excommunicated from the Church due to the foundation of the Inquisitore, an order of inquisitors and demon hunters adhering to old beliefs. Under Rivalli's leadership, however, the Inquisitore remained active in Rome. Rivalli was also old acquaintance of vampire hunter Daniel Holtz, whom he had met years before, having performed the ceremony in which Holtz and his wife Caroline were married.
By 1771, Rivalli and the Inquisitore aided Holtz in capturing and torturing the vampire Angelus. However, Angelus was rescued by his lover, Darla, and a group of Roman vampires. During the event, Rivalli attempted to fend Darla off with a cross, but she just threw him aside uneffected.
