Oz, Part One was a comic book story based on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It was written by Christopher Golden.

Synopsis

Night in Hong Kong. As a werewolf, Oz throws himself against the door of the meat cooler he is locked up in. When a boy sees the door is giving way, he calls for his father, Qing; when the door breaks down completely, he and his family transform into their demon forms. They fight the werewolf until they are able to subdue it and chain it up again. Back in the meat cooler, Oz dreams of his cousin Jordy, Willow Rosenberg and leaving Sunnydale.

In the morning, Oz leaves Qing's butcher shop, but unbeknownst to him is followed by Jinan, Qing's daughter. Oz enters Wuxi's shop but finds the demon in the cluthes of a large, horned demon watched over by a vampire and is thrown out through the window. Jinan makes sure Oz is okay before he re-enters the building with a stake in hand. He stakes the vampire but is outmatched by the demon until Jinan runs it through with a sword.

Wuxi promises to send Oz to Tibet but only if he takes Jinan with him. Arriving near Lhasa, the two trek through valleys and mountains until the come across a nomad camp of which all inhabitants have either disappeared or killed. Setting up camp, Jinan tries to get Oz to talk, saying that she isn't afraid of him because she has a monster inside as well. Oz, however, explains that their situations are different and that while Jinan is running away from home, all he wants to do is be able to go back home again.

Jinan and Oz continue their way to the monk Shantou. Arriving at his temple, they see that most of the monks have been killed just like the nomads. After Oz announces his plans to stay and continue their travel in the morning, Shantou appears, saying they may stay be he won't be able to protect them if the evil returns.
