Types of Possession.
- Spirit possession, the control of the behavior of a living thing or natural object by a spiritual being
- Demonic possession, the control of a person by the Devil or other malevolent spirit
- The control of a person by the paranormal energy of an object or place. ("Where the Wild Things Are", Seal of Danzalthar)
Spirit possession
Spiritual Possession is when a being who has passed away has become "earthbound" and began to feed off of the energy of someone who is still in their physical organism resulting in noticeable changes in behaviour.
Some of them draw on the energy of humans who possess their similar emotions. (cf. "I Only Have Eyes for You") Usually if a living being has negative emotions they will attract earthbound beings who may feed on them, because these negative emotions are characteristic to most earthbound beings who are usually sad, angry or depressed about their situation, the life they once lived or some other situation (which is usually why they won't move on to the light like they are supposed to).
Demon possession
Demonic possession is often the term used to describe the control over a human form by the Devil himself or one of his assigned advocates. Descriptions of demonic possessions often include: erased memories or personalities (cf. "Slouching Toward Bethlehem"), convulsions, “fits” and fainting as if one were dying (cf. "After Life") . Unlike in channelling or other benign forms of possession, the subject has no control over the possessing entity and so it will persist until forced to leave the victim, usually through a form of exorcism.
Some individuals who practice demonolatry invoke the demons, taking their spirit by invitation into themselves as part of worship. (See Primals, Eyghon the Sleepwalker)
