A creature like you cannot be allowed to survive.
D'Hoffryn[src]

Slaypire was a term used to refer to the result of a Slayer being turned into a vampire.[1] Despite the name, the creature was not a separate species; Slayers were humans thus could be turned into vampires, while retaining the supernatural powers they had in life.[2][3]

History[]

Buffy Summers was temporarily transformed into a slaypire when Billy Palmer's astral body caused people's nightmares to manifest throughout Sunnydale.[4]

As she was dying, the Slayer Alexia was offered to be sired as a vampire.[5]

Simone Doffler experimented on at least two Slayers working under by her turning them into zompires, one such victim being Tessa Freer. Simone did so to discover how to be stronger than Buffy[2] and find the right blood to empower her enough.[6]

Simone eventually succeeded in her efforts of becoming a slaypire by traveling to the Deeper Well and awakening Maloker, the Old One progenitor of the vampires.[7]

Powers and abilities[]

Slaypires seemingly retained their Slayer powers in addition to their vampiric abilities. The transformation granted them physical abilities superior to conventional vampires and Slayers, but also the conventional weaknesses and limitations of a vampire.

When Buffy was a slaypire, she fought off the Ugly Man with ease, despite being unable to take him before being changed.[4] Buffy noted that the slaypire Tessa was noticeably stronger than other zompires,[3] to the point of Billy Lane referring to her as "uberzomp" before discovering her slaypire status.[8] Moments after becoming a slaypire, Simone could easily overpower Buffy, a Slayer of greater power and experience,[6] who was only able to defeat Simone by outsmarting her in the fight.[1]

Like common vampires, slaypires were reduced to dust upon being staked.[8][2][1]
