Article Name
Edit
At first, this article seems like it should have the nickname template applied to it. However, that template is specifically for subjects "whose real name is unknown." This implies that real names are preferred. That begs the question, why isn't this article named Collin? I propose to rename it. DinoSlider 02:07, January 1, 2011 (UTC)
As a counterpoint to that, I would offer that the precedent on this wiki is that if a vampire goes by a new name after their siring (Angel, Spike) that's the name we use for their character page instead of their human name. On a more meta level, he was prophesied to be "the Anointed One" before he was born and given a human name, so which one you consider his "real" name is pretty subjective. His legal, given name or the name he was known by first?--OzzMan 13:57, January 1, 2011 (UTC)
At least Angel and Spike are names. The Anointed One is a title, not a name. DinoSlider 14:01, January 1, 2011 (UTC)
- I would say the Prince of Lies and the Master are better analogies. Both of those have the nickname template. DinoSlider 14:11, January 1, 2011 (UTC)
True, but I didn't feel claiming them was a very strong position, since we don't happen to know their human names, and it's definitely possible that, were that different, they'd be listed under those names. To clarify my point on this matter, I'm neither for nor against renaming this page; I was merely playing devil's advocate and providing a countering (but not necessarily dissenting) opinion.--OzzMan 14:15, January 1, 2011 (UTC)
Actually, the name Collin is never spoken onscreen while he was a human. The Master calls him Collin *after* he is a vampire, so it actually *is* his vampire name. DinoSlider 14:20, January 1, 2011 (UTC)
One more point: Both the Master and Giles (when he is quoting the texts) refer to him as "The Anointed", not "The Anointed One". The rest of the characters are inconsistent between "The Anointed" and "The Anointed One". Technically speaking, this makes "The Anointed One" actually incorrect anyway.
