While created as part of licensed material, it has not been confirmed as part of the "real" Buffyverse.
For several decades, Veeya forged a partnership with Anyanka, patron of scorned women; she handled the grief and sadness while Anyanka handled the vengeance end. Their partnership ended for reasons that have not yet been revealed, but it has been hinted that Anyanka made Veeya cranky by trying to take away the grief away from her.
Veeya was eventually trapped in a casket by a group of Sumerians, who wanted to right a wrong she did to them, and dumped the casket in the ocean, hoping she she would never reemerge.
Shortly after Buffy Summers's death, Veeya's casket was discovered at a construction site in Sunnydale. Alexander Harris brought the casket to the Scoobies to inspect, but the mixed emotions the Scoobies felt from losing Buffy inadvertently released Veeya from her deep slumber. Looking for the biggest glowing blob of depression she could absorb, Veeya went to Spike, the vampire in love with Buffy. The Scoobies saved Spike from Veeya, and defeating her by celebrating Buffy's life instead of her death.
Powers and abilities
Veeya had the ability to feed off emotions of those who suffered sadness, tragedy and loss. She could emit bolts of 'stun' rays, which paralyzed her victims as she fed off them. She had some facility to hypnosis, and could plant suggestions in people's heads. She was also able to levitate.
